European Week of Sport 2017 - I've always wanted to try
During European Week of Sport 2017 our Go for Life programme will be organising a number of "Always wanted to try......." activities, where individuals and groups are invited to take part in a range activities from ziplining to open sea swimming.
Sport Ireland is the national co-ordinator for the European Week of Sport in Ireland, which aims to promote sport and physical activity across Europe and over three hundred sport and physical activity events will take place across Ireland from 23rd - 30th September 2017.
We would encourage everyone to use the opportunity of the week to get involved in sport and to get active. A full listing of events scheduled for the European week of Sport is available on the Sport Ireland website HERE and everyone is encouraged and invited to get involved and participate in their local events.
As part of European Week of Sport 2017 Age & Opportunity’s Go for Life programme and Swim Ireland are hosting a public swim event for people aged 50+ on Tuesday 26th September at 2.30pm on Portmarnock Beach near the Martello Tower. The event is open to over 50s swimmers and non swimmers. We will have aerobics and dance activities that everyone can take part in, in the water and on the beach. Family and friends are welcome to join us on the day.

Age & Opportunity’s Go for Life programme and the FAI are hosting a walking football open day for people aged 50+ on Wednesday 27th September at 11.30am in the National Indoor Areana on the National Sports Campus in Blanchardstown.

- Clay Pigeon Shooting in Waterford Castle and in Harbour Hill in Athy
- Falconry in Glenloe Abbey in Galway
- Kayaking in Wicklow and in Limerick
- Golf in Kerry
- ZipLining in the Tibradden Woods
