Ciaran McKinney

Ciarán McKinney has been with Age & Opportunity since 2009 and leads our Engage programme, which offers a range of learning initiatives, courses and workshops for our own personal development as well as opportunities for us to play an active role in our community, aiming is to facilitate participants to develop resilience, build the skills, know-how and the foresight to achieve the best quality of life. 

Ciarán delivers training and facilitation to the public and private sectors and the community and voluntary sectors in age awareness, building resilience through life transitions, ageing with confidence, group work skills and various civic engagement courses.

He is currently a member of two Task Forces at AGE Europe (Social Inclusion and Minimum Income) and represented Age & Opportunity on two European projects, Minimum Income for a Dignified Life in Older Age and Active Senior Citizens for Europe.

Ciarán has worked in the charity sector since 1984, both in Ireland and the UK. Prior to Age & Opportunity, Ciarán worked for many years in sexual health services in London and Ireland and has worked with the Gay and Lesbian Equality Network as Director of Gay HIV Strategies.

Ciarán has a Degree in Social Science, a Professional Diploma in Human Rights and Equality, and a License in Homeopathy.
