Are you a group or an organisation keen to promote positive ageing and increase awareness of attitudes to ageing?

What is AgeWise?

AgeWise is a facilitated workshop designed to raise awareness of attitudes to ageing and older people in the workplace and wider society. It is suitable for older persons’ groups and community, parish or library groups who are interested in promoting and learning about positive ageing.

It would also suit organisations/employers:

  • who are interested in promoting and learning about positive ageing
  • whose work affects the lives of older people, in particular employers and people delivering services to older people or coming into contact with older people on a regular basis.

How does it work?

Typically, AgeWise is delivered as a two-hour session either in-person or online.

AgeWise examines the drivers of ageism in society and their detrimental effect on attitudes to our own ageing and older people. It promotes a life-course model of ageing, exploring strategies to counter negative images and stereotypes in society, and discrimination in the workplace.

The workshop promotes positive ageing by inviting participants to:
• Understand the personal, cultural and structural effects of ageism
• Identify instances of discrimination against older people
• Devise strategies to counter age discrimination in their community and/or workplace.

How can I get involved?

Workshops are delivered to groups and can be delivered in person or online. Content can be tailored to meet the particular needs of a group/organisation. If you would like more details, please get in touch.
