Friends of the Go for Life Games,
In light of the continuously evolving situation surrounding the Covid 19 pandemic in Ireland, as well as recent government recommendations, it is with great regret that Age & Opportunity announces the cancellation of our Go for Life National Games Day 2020.
2020 would have been our 9th National Go for Life Games event and we had some exciting plans to make it bigger and better than ever. However, the timing of the Games, at the beginning of June is simply too soon and thus too risky for all of us, but most especially our participants and loyal volunteers.
We want to take this opportunity to thank all of our valued organisational partners who enable the Games to be played across Ireland. Thanks to the PALs and groups all around the country who play the Games in their groups throughout the year. Not forgetting our valued volunteers who help us roll out and make the National Games Day a huge success every year.
Age & Opportunity Active is committed to rescheduling Regional Games where we can in the autumn. These smaller events give a flavour of what the National Games Day 2020 would have been like and provide an opportunity to still take part and represent your county at a regional level.
In the meantime, we hope you will stay in touch and that we can celebrate together when we have gotten through this strange time in our lives. To ensure you can continue to play the games from the comfort of your own home, please keep an eye on our Facebook and YouTube pages where we will be demonstrating how you can play the games using everyday household items as part of our Age & Opportunity Movement Minutes initiative.
Please stay safe and keep an eye out on our social media accounts for other activities or events you can get involved in over the coming weeks and months.
