Michelle Carew, Cork City Council Arts Officer, launched the e-publication What Next? Arts and Ageing Resources on Wednesday 15th November at The Gathering in Dublin, organised by Bealtaine Festival, Age & Opportunity. This e-publication brings together a set of findings, recommendations, reflections and references informed by a Podcast and Workshop series held in 2022 that revisited the project Creative Enquiry: Arts and Older People.
The Creative Enquiry project explored new approaches to participation in the arts for and with older people. It involved Cork Midsummer Festival, MusicAlive and SIRIUS, as well as the artists Marie Brett, Helga Deasy, Susan McManamon, and Colette Lewis. These artists conducted residencies with these organisations, collaborating with organisations, groups and individuals active in or representing the community.
The What Next? e-publication is a tool for the arts sector based on practice-based learning from these artists and the participants in the activities they developed. It is available at Cork City Council and Age & Opportunity.
