We’re inviting applications for the Creative Ageing Writing Bursary, Professional Development Artist Award and Emerging Artist Award. Applications and queries can be submitted to the Arts Programme Administrator, Eva, at arts@ageandopportunity.ie.
Creative Ageing Writing Bursary 2022
Launched in 2021, the Age & Opportunity Creative Ageing Writing Bursary aims to generate discussion, debate and knowledge about creative ageing (the arts and older people/ageing) in Ireland. The essay/reflection is intended to be useful for people who work with or are thinking of working with older people (including older artists).
The inaugural bursary was awarded to Dublin-based theatre-maker, playwright, and performer, Michelle Read. You can read her essay here.
One award of €1000 will be made to the successful applicant.
Please read the guidelines here before submitting your application form.
Deadline: 5pm, Friday March 25th 2022.
Professional Artist Award 2022
Age & Opportunity recognises that artistic practice is a lifelong journey and demands continued upskilling and training.
The Age & Opportunity inaugural Professional Development Artist Award aims to celebrate lifelong learning by encouraging and supporting professional older artists who wish to further develop their career and practice through specific activities to meet their development needs (training, research, etc.). It is not intended to support formal third or fourth level education.
One award of €1000 will be made to the successful applicant.
Please read the guidelines here before submitting your application form.
Deadline: 5pm, Friday March 25th 2022.
Emerging Artist Award 2022
Age & Opportunity recognises that many people don’t have the time or resources to take up artistic practice when they are younger. For these artists, getting older enables a freeing up of responsibilities, allowing more time for pursuing existing and new artistic interests.
The Age & Opportunity inaugural *Emerging Artist Bursary aims to encourage and support older artists who are at an early stage in their career. We would like to celebrate the determination and achievements of someone in the second half of their life who has embarked on a full-time artistic path with a view to becoming a professional artist.
One award of €1000 will be made to the successful applicant.
Please read the guidelines here before submitting your application form.
Deadline: 5pm, Friday March 25th 2022.
Please note that Age & Opportunity welcomes applications from all communities, and particularly encourages artists from underrepresented communities to apply.
